With the separation of the lovers Ranginui the Sky Father and Papatuanuku the Earth Mother, we moved into Te Ao Marama – The World of Light.

A unique project that brought together talented local chamber musicians, taonga pūoro (traditional Māori instruments), classical instruments and New Zealand music.

Sometimes the projects with the smallest budgets can be the most fun. For Te Ao Marama all the visual elements were created in-house, from the photography to the hand written typography. Other Chamber Music New Zealand staff members were even roped in and used as hand models for the photo shoot.

Part of the brief was to take these visuals and project them on to a two storey high screen over a 10 minute cycle to help enhance the concert experience, reinforce the concept and story at the heart of the concert as well act as a link between four acts spread over three floors at the Museum of Wellington City and Sea.

Project completed while Chris was working in the Audience Development Team at Chamber Music New Zealand.
